Who are we?

The Colorado Strong Business Alliance is a consortium of business leaders committed to restoring Colorado to its rightful place as a pro-business state focused on free market principles, innovation and ingenuity, and a strong, job-creating economic climate. Colorado businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and the heartbeat of our communities. Through innovation, entrepreneurship and a historically strong business climate, Colorado grew to be one of the top ten best economies in the nation in 2018. Sadly, since that high mark Colorado slipped to:

32nd

in 2023 for best economies in the nation in a CNBC ranking

38th

in the cost of doing business in a CNBC ranking

48th

in opportunity for its residents in a U.S. News and World Report ranking

Issues

Colorado SBA tackles legislative challenges that pose threats to businesses in Colorado, ensuring a vibrant and resilient economic landscape for all.

SB24-033
Lodging Property Tax Treatment

SB24-033 and its taxing of short-term rentals is wrong for Colorado. By changing the property tax classification of homes from residential to commercial rates (6.7% to 27.9%), SB24-033 will force hard-working Colorado families to either sell their home or they will reduce the number of nights they rent the home to below the allowable threshold.

SB24-106
Right to Remedy Construction Defects

Colorado has a housing affordability crisis that must be fixed. While the solutions to resolve this crisis are complex, one piece of the puzzle is to increase the supply of affordable and attainable housing units, including condominiums which are severely lacking due to construction liability lawsuits.

Colorado is too special to let the economic decline and anti-business sentiment take a foothold. Now is the time to change our trajectory before it’s too late. Colorado must take proactive steps to increase its competitiveness, encourage entrepreneurship and build a strong economic future.
